  Dear Professor Brad, I am Xing He, a first year student in SIT mechanical engineering in your critical thinking and communication module. Prior to this, I studied mechatronics engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic and graduated in 2019. When I was younger, I enjoyed playing with toys like remote controlled cars. However, being a rough and reckless child, caused me to break most of my toys within the first few days. Instead of getting new toys, my parents tried to fix my broken toys and I was fascinated by how they did it with tools that can be found in everyday homes. They showed me different components of the toy cars like the motors and wheels while explaining the functions of each part. Communication and critical thinking work together to provide clarity and prevents misunderstanding and miscommunication. Before a person communicates, critical thinking is used to generate their ideas and thoughts then organizes them systematically so that it will be comprehensive and easy to understand. This is a very important factor in the workplace as in the article, it shows that it can be very costly for the company when there are such mistakes. C ommunication and critical thinking will impact my future role as a leader in the workplace as I will be able to convey and deliver my point across to my colleagues with ease.
